Answers:

My husband had this about two years ago. You need physical therapy. It's the only thing that will get it back where it belongs and alleviate the pain. They'll give you exercises specifically for the type of hernia you have and where it is along the spine. Though, since your sciatic nerve is being pinched, then you have it pretty much where my husband had his. His PT taught me how to do a particular stretch on him.

He would lay on his stomach with a pillow under his tummy/hips area. I would kneel straddling his hips, lean over and place both hands on his spine just above the very tip of his tail bone. Then slowly I'd apply pressure (elbows locked, like I was doing CPR), ease off for a few seconds, then reapply the pressure. I did this about 5 - 7 times in a session, holding the pressure for about 4 or 5 seconds at a time.

I wouldn't recommend having someone try doing this to you unless they were specifically advised by the PT.

I sympathize with you greatly. I know you must be in a great deal of pain. : ( After about 6 or 8 weeks of physical therapy, my husband's bulging disk was set back where it belongs and he hasn't had any problems since.

Good luck to you.
