well ,take it from a physician,the best way is to do a form of passive active,see cases ,get to see facts,discover them,then scan the textbook,u will start noticing they mention what u have already seen or heard, afew times u will get the textbook of the paper and into your head...it was my way of studying back in medical school.in addition to solving questions on the way ...
