When I have a simple cold what is the best medicine to take.?!
Question:
When I have a simple cold what is the best medicine to take.?
Answers:
first make sure it is a cold and not something else because a cold is caused by a virus;
if it is a cold, there is no medication you can take - especially not antibiotics (because only living things are affected by antibiotics and a virus is not a living thing, just a group of proteins that mimic living things); the only thing you can do is to alleviate the SYMPTOMS (fever, chills, stuffed or runny nose, etc), which is to take lots of liquids containing vitamin C (fruit juices) and fruits (guava, peppers - I consider anything coming from a flower a fruit, citrus, pomegranate, mangosteen, etc);
for stuffed up nose, a towel over your head as your face "hovers" over a warm (NOT HOT) steam is a good home remedy that works and cost little; if you find this "boring", you can "flavor" the steam with scented oils - lime or eucalyptus are soothing, just don't put in too much;
finally, get lots of rest; if your immune system is up to task, the cold should not last more than 3 days; if it persists, go see a competent medical practitioner (preferably one that you trust and will not fill you with synthetic chemicals from the pharmacy);
