Any tips on meditation?


Answers:

There are several forms of meditation. It depends on the outcome you are looking for in engaging in meditation: insight, quieting the monkey mind, finding answers, releasing stress, etc.

The most relaxing form I have found is to lay down, slightly propped up. Then start with three deep breaths to slow your heart rate. Then start at the top of your head focus your attention on the top part of your head. As you focus your mind there, breath in and out deeply. Then move your focus down your face, a small bit at a time. Breath several times deeply each time. Start with top of head, ears, chin, throat, and work you way down generally to each joint in the body. As you do this know that the chi, holy spirit, universal energy, or what ever your beliefs are is entering your body and flowing down as you breath and focus on each section of your body. If you have trouble focusing then tense each muscle as you go down your body while you breath in, then release the breath and the muscle at the same time. Once you have completed the meditation then wiggle your arms and legs to increase your heart rate before you get up. This should get you started. After you get to your toes lay quietly for a while and see what comes into your mind. Good luck!
