Is aquafina the best purified water?!

Question:

Is aquafina the best purified water?

Answers:

'purified' as in from regular city water - possibly. In terms of comparing to good Spring Water or water from natural sources, definately not.

Here's an old article:
"Five On Your Side Troubleshooter Chris Caswell reports that many bottled water labels say "pure, natural spring water." But Consumer Reports said that people should not believe everything that they read.

When people think of bottled water, many think of crystal springs and pure natural waters.

"I always think bottled water comes from somewhere up north," Connie Corbett of Consumer Reports said. "But that might be a misconception. They say it comes from springs, wherever that is."

A lot of bottled water is, in fact, spring water. But Consumer Reports said that people shouldn't assume that it is, unless they see the words "spring water" on the label. Some of the leading brands, including Dasani and Aquafina, claim to be "purified drinking water." That's something different.

"Aquafina has a label that shows mountain vistas," Corbett said. "However, it's really purified tap water from cities including Detroit, Michigan, Munster, Indiana, and Fresno, California."

Dasani's maker said that the company's product is purified tap water with some minerals added. In all, Consumer Reports tested 39 leading kinds of bottled water. Whether they were spring water or not, all met government standards for key contaminants.

But there were problems with taste. Almost all had hints of plastic flavor, and the worst had a pronounced melted-plastic taste.

"The type of plastic bottle makes a big difference," Corbett said. "Water in this cloudy type of bottle often had an objectionable plastic flavor, whereas water in this clear bottle generally tasted much better."

In the end, the top ratings went to Volvic's natural spring water. It comes in clear plastic bottles and has a very clean taste with no off flavors. But it's pricey -- about 29 cents a glass.

The next best was Dannon's natural spring water. It costs about half as much.

Consumer Reports said that another good choice is the spring water from Kmart called American Fare.

Consumers should be sure to get the water in clear plastic bottles, not the cloudy ones, WEWS reports."

I disagree with a water in clear plastic being the best - I personally like Volvic and Fuji but they are very pricey, they are in clear bottles - but by far the best would be in glass bottles. I purchased a home water filter (one of the good rated ones) and feel my water is now better than Aquafina or Dasani ... I use it for drinking and cooking but whenever I do the store I still love to buy a nice liter of Fuji or Volvic. I store it in a glass container.

This is a nice filter:
