How can I treat packed bowels??

I recently had Knee surgery and was perscribed Hydrocodone and naproxen, my doctor neglected to metion however, that I should drink double amounts of liquids. now I am extremely constipated....Most remedies i've seen don't addresse how to soften the HARD stool that is aready backed up...I'm extremely desprite!! Ive been tryin to use rubber gloves and maually guide it out but this painful and I cant bare much more of this, plus i think its causing a minor hemroid(spell check)....any suggestions

Oh my goodness I feel sorry for you. I go thru the same thing when I take pain killers. Start off using a Fleet enema to get things moving again. You may be backed up enough that once one has worked wait a couple of hours and do another one when the bowel has had a little time to move more down. After that face the facts it is not just about drinking more fluids. Apples are a God send to someone who is going thru what your going thru. Eat three apples a day and space them out not all at once or your going to give yourself a gut ache. If you find 3 isn't enough to keep things moving on a daily basis you need to up yourself to 4, so forth and so on. I am sure you understand. Fresh fruits and raw veggies are what you practically have to live on while you take the meds. Lower your starches like pasta and bread dramatically and you will begin to see the difference. Starches really back you up badly the less you eat the better!
