Reiki help?!

Question:

Reiki help?

i have mixed feelings about it. i have a friend who practices it, and she swears it works, but is it one of those things where it's like "if i believe it works, it works?" is it completely mental? i'm very spiritual, but i have a hard time seeing how a person can infuse energy into someone and heal them.....has anyone performed it or had it performed on them? what's it like? did it work? how does it work?

Hello, I am a Massage Thereapist. While in school we had to write a paper on differrent modalties or forms of Massage and/or Bodywork. Reiki falls under the description of Bodywork and is a form of energy therapy. I basically researched it's history and found it very interesting. So much so that I plan on learning from a friend who is a Reiki Master. (There are many levels of learning before reaching the status of Master)

Reiki (ray-key) is Japanese and when translated means Universal Life Force Energy.

When it comes to anything of this nature, (energy work, etc.), you have to come to the table with an open mind and willingness to learn. Or better put ... learn to think outside the box.

When I first started my class in Shiatsu, a form of Oreintal Massage, I had to learn to think outside the box. This is very hard to do when you have "Traditional Medicine" shoved down your throat for years & years. But I did learn and it does work. (Shiatsu)

I have had Reiki performed on me, a very quick session to releive myself of the negative energy I absorbed while working on a client. I felt absolutely great afterwards. One of my instructors performed this and he was still taking classes (in Reiki) whlist teaching us Massage.

It isn't one of those if you believe it will work because I was still skeptical with energy work when this was done.

A person who performs Reiki can use several different techniques. I can't even begin to tell you. But there is the use of crystals to align the Chakras, which can be done with or without crystals. There are so many different oftions with this type of therapy.

My sister, God rest her soul, was at level 1 Reiki when she passed away. She had chronic pain, and several other health issues. She had Reiki treatments done and YES they did help her! This was before she started learning the technique.

My suggestion to you is to research this a little and, as I said before, come to this with an open mind mind and try to "think outside the box".

Reiki is a very old technique that was only introduced into the US throughout the years of somewhere around 1950-1970, (if my memory of my research for the paper serves me right), and has rapidly spread since then. It was brought to the US by a woman who was treated & cured from her disease by a Reiki master in the Orient. He then taught her and then the story moves on ...

Trust me, I know it is hard NOT to be skeptical but I beleive if you open your mind to this you will understand.

I am going to give you a website where you can actually ask more questions to a real professional in this line of work. You can visit there if you wish or you can Google. There is a place there that explains a little better and she is more than willing to answer questions.

I hope you find the answers that you are seeking and good luck on your quest. Also good luck with your growth in learning more.
