Answers:

The ones made by Hyland's? Wow that takes me back. They changed them in '87 or so and they weren't the same anymore. And the plain ones were better than the 'Calms Forte' version for some reason. The problem is that they contain chamomille which may or may not be related to ragweed depending which variety they use, and if your anxiety is related to allergies they may very well increase your discomfort greatly instead of helping it. Still though I used to enjoy washing a couple of 'em down with a couple of cans of non-alcoholic beer, they really evened me out. On the other hand if you are talking about the sugar-coated Calms pills in the blue box imported from Poland or Germany that come packaged in a blister pack instead of a bottle, those are much better and really nice, they are based on an extract of Hops plus valerian and gentian. You may be more comfortable taking just half of one. Personally i don't like to feel it working. In any case with either brand those ingredients work right away, they do not build up over time to work. The ones that work over time are based on natural MAO inhibitors such as St. John's Wort, Lemon Balm, Damiana, and Passion Flower, and you must google "MAO inhibitors" to learn or else you can kill yourself just by eating the wrong food while taking those. I believe there is a Polish syrup containing those four called "Nervogram" or "Nervogran". Polish immigrants use drops sold under the name 'Nervosol' but i don't remember the ingredients. Don't be fooled by "Nervosol Tabletki", it is an east-coast american forgery intended to fool Polish immigrants with a very mundane american formula. The American herbal 'nerve' formula sold under so many names containing 'orange peel' and catnip and a few other items is worthless in my experience. I can tell you two things that should be your starting point though, Solgar brand magnesium citrate and plain niacin. Take the niacin with the magnesium. Start with tiny doses on the niacin until you are familiar with it's side effects, and then daily increase the dose until those side effects burn out. Then you can add an herbal calmative. You'll be okay :)
