Recommendations and treatments for Low Male Testosterone Level

Lab Tests/Rule-Outs - Unfortunately, there is no general agreement on the threshold of testosterone value below which a man would be considered hypogonadal. In the United States, levels below 200 to 300 pmol/l from a morning sample are generally considered low.

Test for Hormones -

Zinc Requirement: Studies support the use of zinc supplementation in the treatment of low sperm count especially in the presence of low testosterone levels. Both sperm count and testosterone levels rose in men with initially low testosterone levels. Zinc status should be evaluated in men with decreased serum testosterone levels. For long-term use, zinc must be taken with copper, because zinc inhibits the body's absorption of this mineral.

Tribulus - In patients with below-normal serum testosterone levels, physiological levels were reached after treatment with Tribulus. Amongst patients with normal initial levels, the testosterone level was not significantly changed after treatment. With its good safety profile and its natural herbal origin, Tribestan is sold as a dietary supplement in many countries with little restriction on its use.

High/Increased Fat Diet -

Hormone Testosterone - The original and primary use of testosterone is for the treatment of males who have too little or no natural endogenous testosterone production: males with hypogonadism. This hormone replacement therapy helps to maintain serum testosterone levels in the normal range.

Flaxseed oil is an outstanding source of omega 3 fatty acids, which are essential for healthy sperm and for hormone production.

A three-month regimen of the amino acid arginine will not only increase the sperm count, but enhance its motility.

The herb Panax ginseng is believed to stimulate the production of testosterone and the formation of sperm. Every three weeks, alternate it with a round of Siberian ginseng.

Several studies have shown that the amino acid carnitine has helped normalize sperm counts in men with previously low levels.

Coenzyme Q10 is an enzyme involved in energy reactions throughout the body. Studies have demonstrated that raising blood levels of CoQ10 have increased sperm counts.

Vitamin B12 is necessary for maturation of cells. Several studies have shown that raising levels of B12 have improved sperm counts in infertile men.

Avoid smoking and drinking.

Wear boxer shorts rather than briefs to keep the testicles away from the warmth of the body, which can reduce sperm count.

Reduce stress through regular exercise, yoga, meditation, and other techniques.
