Does anyone know of any alternative therapies for insect bite allergies?!

Question:

Does anyone know of any alternative therapies for insect bite allergies?

I've been to the doctor many times, but all they say is that it's just one of those things and pretty much just to grin and bear it.

Well, I don't believe that anymore. There must be another solution other than pumping patients full of antibiotics.

Is there a way of getting rid of an allergy for good?

Answers:

There are many things you might try once bitten - vinegar is a good treatment! Dab it on the bites & the stinging should be much easier. Citronella is good as a preventative - either burning candles if you are sitting outside or spray it on your clothes to keep the beasties away from you. Lemongrass is another alternative, used in the same way.
Essential oils that repel insects include: laventer, orange oil, eucalyptus, neem oil, - a mix of these (a few drops of each) in a base carrier oil applied sparingly to exposed skin will help. Cover up - they tend not to bite through fabric - cotton is the best.
Brewers yeast either as tablets or powder is a rich source of Vit B1 which changes the smell of your sweat making you less attractive to insects. The herb feverfew contains pyrethin - an effective insecticide - it really helps so include this in your salads. Garlic is another thing that makes you less attractive to insects - & perhaps some people too! - so eat plenty of that.
