Does anyone know if there is a place in Suffolk that offers an apprenticeship in!

Question:

Does anyone know if there is a place in Suffolk that offers an apprenticeship in alternative therapies?

i am looking for somewhere who offers paid training/apprenticeships in alternative therapies (aromatherapy/massage/colour therapy etc) either in/around suffolk and cambridgeshire. can anyone help me out here?

Answers:

To be honest, I've not come across employers who will take on trainees in holistic therapies as this is a specialised area and anyone teaching will need to be appropriately qualified to do so (ie: teaching certificate, IV assessor award). It is something you would need to do within a college, an independant training centre or at a seminar run by a governing body such as FHT. Normally when you learn massage or aromatherapy, you should already hold a qualification in anatomy and physiology or be prepared to undergo studying it. Go to www.fht.org.uk - they will have a weblink for you to find out where the nearest place is to study any of the therapies you have mentioned. The chances are though, if you do any courses in an independant training centre, you may have to pay full price - However, you can enrol at a local college for a year or two and obtain your qualifications (ITEC, VTCT or C+G) for free if you are on certain types of benefits. I studied for a year to get my VTCT Diploma and this enabled me to practice Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Swedish Massage. The course also covered a two week work placement, Level 2 in I.T, Anatomy and Physiology and Body Diagostics.
I hope this has been of help to you
