TMJ and Chiropractic..anybody been helped?!

Question:

TMJ and Chiropractic..anybody been helped?

What method? Changed your bite? Frequency in Adjustments? Painful adjustment?

Answers:

I have had TMJ about six times in my life the first three times I went the root of going to the dentist and getting a specially made mouth guard but that takes months to work

On the other hand when I went to the chiropractor after two treatments I was out of pain.

TMJ in most cases is caused by grinding teeth when sleeping or clenching your jaw during the day after a while this causes muscle spams and that will pull the jaw out of alignment

So to prevent it from coming back some people who grid their teeth will benefit from a mouth guard ( they now even have a mold able one at the drug store )

Relaxation exercises with help if you tend to clench your jaw

I would clench and not even know that I was doing it

I found that chewing a sugar free gum helped at least that way I was not clenching all the time it reminded me to relax my jaw

Ice also will help with the swelling around the joint
