Massage therapy?!

Question:

Massage therapy?

How much do massage parlors generally charge for an hour? and is it depending on the type of massage?

Answers:

How much a Massage Therapist charges is dependent on several factors.

First, the socioeconomic background of the area where the therapist practices effects the going rate, with higher rates in affluent and well educated areas.

The type of massage also can effect the rate. Practitioners who have received extra training (like Rolfers) or graduated from prestigious schools can charge a little more.

The national average right now is $60 for a one hour session, $80 for 1.5 hours, and $45 for one half hour.

One should be careful when using the term "massage parlor", as it usually refers to illicit sexual practices. This can offend legitimate massage professionals. Also, when you tell your friend you went to the "massage parlor", he/she may get the wrong idea.

Avoid "chain" massage venues, as they usually hire only very new massage therapists; experienced therapists are not willing to work for a low hourly wage.

Go treat yourself to a wonderful therapeutic massage! It is definitely worth the price!
