I am in pain management;currently taking morphine on a regular basis. I had an appointment the other day and I had to take a test, this is the first time Ihave ever been tested. So, I am asking this question after the fact. I am so scared, I have not done anything other than prescribed meds in years. If this comes back positive I will lose my Dr. I am terrified. I will never be so stupid again. Thanks for all the input, I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to answer.

As a physician who has a certification as a Medical Review Officer (the docs that review drug test results for the dept of transportation and other industry) I can tell you that it would be very unlikely for one "toke" from even a high potency source to show positive after 14 days. The commonly quoted time that THC stays in the blood of 30 days is a MAXIMUM in studies conducted on CHRONIC marjuana smokers. THC is fat soluble and accumulates in the smokers fat deposits, and releases over time .The longest it takes for a very heavy user with a high body fat percentage is 30 days. In a normal person of average body fat percentage that has a one time use the test may be positive in the urine for only 3-5 days.
Especially if the lab your doctor uses has a cutoff. On a DOT test the cutoff is set at 50ng/dl so one toke might not even cause you to be positive even the next day.
Certainly water will help "flush out the system" (the solution to pollution is dilution as we say in the medicine) but stop drinking water 3-4 hours before the test or the urine will be so dilute that it wont meet the standards set by the lab as acceptable and will tag you as a person who is trying to beat the drug test by drinking water.
