Scientifically, what does warm water do to make you feel better while you're sic!

Question:

Scientifically, what does warm water do to make you feel better while you're sick / sore?

It seems all doctors reccommend warm baths when patients are sore or feeling very unwell. I know i've relied upon warm baths for many things, and they truly do work.

- Can anyone explain why this is scientifically??

Please don't tell me it 'soothes the muscles' or 'relaxes the mind.' I already know this - I'm wonderng how. How on earth can warm water be this good to your body?

Answers:

Bacteria and viruses thrive best at temperatures between 85 to 95 degrees F. If you are running a fever, it is your body's way of destroying the bacteria and viruses, as they cannot live much above 100 degrees F. whereas your body can. If you take a warm or hot-as-you-can-stand-it bath, you are helping your body achieve that higher temperature without having to work so hard getting there. This is the real reason people who exercise are so healthy, as they are bringing their body temps up over 100 degrees every time they work out.
