Valiume pills for minor surgery?

i might be getting surgery done for my ingrown toenails for the second time. the first experience was really terrible. is it possible to request these pills as an alternative to shots? do they put your whole body to sleep, or do they just numb a certain part of your body? also, for how long do they last? if anyone had ever tried these before, please tell me your experience. any extra information would help a ton. thank you!

Valium will just make you mellow and alittle sleepy. If you're nervous it will help you feel calmer. It dosen't take away any pain, but hopefully your toes will be numbed.
