Rftdwg gave you the advice I was about to: gargle with warm salt water. It really does help. You can also buy products like Chloraseptic at the drug store. You spray it on your throat and it numbs it for a while.
If you're running a temp, have white spots on the back of your throat indicating strep, or it keeps up for more than three days, call your doctor.
