What are the best herbal medicines to treat a child with ADD?
my 8 year old is showing signs of ADD and I want to treat naturally not with the usual treatment. I have a brother who is on the doctor prescribed pills and its been hell, I do not want my son to go thru that. I am looking for any advice on natural supplements ie: vitamins, homopathic, herbs anything

First of all I am not a doctor. these are all my opinions from experience and research i've done on medication and natural supplements.
Cris has a pretty interesting approach to the problem. I like the idea of using transparent colored laminates. it will take lots of hard work. a combination of work and natural supplements would be a good idea. remember things dont repair by themselves.
pharmaceutical medications can be pretty messy but sometimes helpful if the condition is serious. i would also recommend to not put children on meds at such an early age unless it is highly recommended. Their bodies and chemicals are still developing and medication can interfere with this growth. the developing chemicals can grow dependant on these drugs making it difficult to later stave off as an adult. This was a personal experience for me.
Some children with ADHD have lower levels of Magnesium. Here are some supplements I have read about for ADHD.
1. L-Carnitine:100mg for each 2.2lbs. of body weight.
2. Fish oils (also good for joints)
3. Zinc
4. B vitamins
5. magnesium
these are all brain supplements.
I'd go to whole foods or some place like that and speak with the vitamin folks there. Cheap vitamins usually tend to be ineffective. You get what you pay for. good luck. i wish i had parents like you when i was a kid.
