I'm guessing you made a mistake on the number, because I'm quite sure its M357.

Hydrocodone - 500mg

This specific variety of pills containing HC is also manufactured by Mallinckcrodt Pharmaceuticals. Hydrocodone is what many call "Vicodin".

Like the other pill you reported (methadone), hydrocodone is also an opioid analgesic (synthetic) - which I believe I described definitively in response to your last question.

Hydrocodone is a commonly prescribed drug, and is being administered to more and more patients with each passing day. It has become the standard for after-operation pain reliever. It is very easy to get, and is also very habit-forming.

Though not as powerful as methadone, hydrocodone is widely known to cause withdrawal symptoms from discontinued use. The medicine itself acts on the opioid receptors (like methadone) in both the brain and the back. It causes temporary relief to the patient due to the way it affects the spinal cord. It doesn't fully "shut down" the major nerve groups, but rather has a sort of numbing effect. But, as with other drugs, this feeling is sought after by drug abusers.

This pill is not only prescribed for post-surgery pain relief, but now it is given for injuries NOT requiring surgery. There are some places you can go and walk out with a prescription on the basis of a "hurting lower back". This poses a problem because every kid in America can get their hands on some HC.

When used improperly (abused), this medicine is dangerous. It is physically addicting, and is also very damaging to the liver (due to acetaminophen in it).
