Does heat kill vitamin c?!

Question:

Does heat kill vitamin c?

ive hear that when you add heat to vitamin c, you lose the benifits. is this true?

Answers:

All vitamins and most other nutrients can become less active if exposed to heat air or light.

I many cases the label description will provide information regarding storage conditions "Do you store above 80 degrees F. Do not freeze" are pretty common.

In most cases good manufacturers will provide a legally approved overage of the active ingredient so that the normal loss of activity between manufacturing time and the time you take the pill, is compensated. The label may claim 100mg but actually contain up to 110 mg. Also, GMP's require that the activity be at at least 90% of label claim at the expiration date.
