Question:

Any wisdom for one who is seeking a vegetarian lifestyle?

I've been exposed to Natural Medicine and Chinese Medicine for a while now. The Chinese doctors I was once in contact with believed in eating certain foods with certain seasons and so on. I have had health issues in the past and am currently improving these mainly intestinal/brain complications. I am finally laughing off this crazy health 'adventure' I have been journeying with. Anyways, any tips or wisdom? I would like to know the optimal time of day I should eat certain types of food. If any of you have links or good sources of research that would be fab! Thanks. Lastly, I am focusing my energies on vegetarianism... etc.

I always advocate a primarily vegetarian diet for just about anything. I leave room in there for fish or chicken, though. I'm not primarily vegetarian because it bothers me to know that poor, defenseless animals are being harmed and all that.... that doesn't bother me so much in the grand scheme. What really bothers me is the utter lack of knowledge that many, if not most, chronic diseases in western civilization are practically non-existent in rural Asia. Why? No junk food, preservatives, and high yield farming goes on there. They don't eat a ton of meat and dairy products like we do. They get out and do things... all day, every day.

If you eat a wide variety of mostly fresh vegetables (cooking harms the natural enzymes that aid in nutrient absorbtion), you will not only feel better, you'll look better. I've been diabetic for almost four years now and have learned how to manage it with exercise, diet, a little pill, and several supplements. I've also learned of the many potential hazards of eating meat and dairy products. It's quite scary.
