Do detoxifying teas from a Chinese herbalist really work?!

Question:

Do detoxifying teas from a Chinese herbalist really work?

An accupuncturist around the corner form my house has a little shoppe where you can purchase many Chines remedies. I bought a tube of something for acne, and it has helped. I also bought a box of Life Rising, Detox tea. It's supposed to clear toxins from your body, smooth bowel movements, maintain normal weight, and enhance skin beauty.

Any feedback on this kind of therapy?
Also, can anyone who's familiar with this sort of thing recommend a chinese herb for depression?

Answers:

The short answer is yes, Traditional Chinese Medicine is effective. That's why it has been around for thousands of years.
But before you try a herb for depression, you should have a diagnosis by a qualified TCM practitioner. What is recommended for you may be different for someone else with the same condition.

The diagnosis should be inexpensive and consist of taking your pulse, looking at your tongue and asking some questions.

That probably sounds like it wouldn't be valid, but when I had it done she knew I had asthma when I was a kid, but grew out of it, of course I never told her anything like that. She mentioned some other things that were spot on as well.

When I went for accupuncture for a bad back, it was 80% better right away, and 100% within a week.
