Rotavirus in Adults?!

Question:

Rotavirus in Adults?

We (The Grandparents) believe we have Rotavirus, as my grandchildren had it, now we are ill with the same symtoms. Lots of diarrhea, takes everything out of you! Out of commission for days. Does anyone know of what to do to get us better? Will Olive Leaf work? We have gone down to using paper, plastic and everything throw away to avoid touching and used lots of disinfectant.

Answers:

Yes, we adults usually get rotavirus from our kids and grandkids as it is one of the leaders in infant death and hospital stays due to its dehydration factor from vomiting and diarrhea. Adults usually get a milder form of it and as long as you use good hand washing after voiding and changing diapers, then the risk of it drops. The only things that adults can do, is pretty much the same thing as kids and that is to rest the stomache and bowels and keep hydrated. Your stomache and intestines are severely irritated right now and probably can't handle anything new being injested into your system. I wish I could tell you something different, but I have gone through this 3 times with my son and he is only 2 1/2 (gotta love grocery cart handles!) You don't need to use paper/plastic dishes or utensils. Once you wash your dishes the virus is killed. I wish you all well! Good luck and sorry I couldn't tell you anything else that's nicer! Go here, it is the official center for disease control's fact sheet on it http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/revb/gast...
