Is there a natural, gentle way to get energy in the morning?!

Question:

Is there a natural, gentle way to get energy in the morning?

I work an early shift beginning about 5:30 a.m. but I am not a morning person, I never have been. Whether I get 4 hours of sleep or 10, I am always extremely tired at work. If I don't have caffine, I am grumpy, foggy, and generally ineffective. If I do have my morning cup 'o joe, I get stressed out, frustrated and can feel my blood boiling. So what can I do to get my energy up in a more "gentle" way?

ps
please don't tell me to get up ealier and exercise, because that's not gonna happen.

Answers:

OK so besides exercise, try these things...

When you first wake up drink 16 oz of ice cold water. The ice cold water has to be metabolized by your body to warm it up.... This is kinda like an exercise for your insides....

Take a shower that is mild (NOT PIPING HOT) and keep it shorter than longer.... 10 min or less

When you get out of the shower drink another glass of water (just a cup will do this time)

EAT AN ENERGIZING BREAKFAST:
toast with peanut butter and yogurt or a glass of milk.... you should have carbs, protein and some healthy fat Eating an orange can wake you up because of the cirtrus scent. And its a good early morning fruit...

After all of this, you most likely won't need your cup o' joe!!!

If you can, have a bottle of water with you at work.... Stay hydrated to help stay awake.... Have some crackers with peanut butter for a snack at your first 15 minute break or something to that effect.
