Anyone know of a herbal supplement for a "Hyper" child?

I am a nurse but I deal with medication that has many side effects. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and a couple other things. He is VERY hyper and out of control. He kicks and hits his siblings and no amount of punishment/support/encouragmen... helps. He has a genetal defect on one of his chromosomes, and his mental status is below normal. I love him so much, but sometimes I just cry and think I am a horrible mother! Now I am being told by fellow doctors to put him on ritalin. But I want to try an alternative approach first. I will try anything at this point!! I will gladly give ten points to the best answer. Please give details as to what is in the supplement as well. My son is three and a half and I dont want to give him something that is too harsh for a child.Thank you!

Two words! FATTY ACIDS! These are SOOOO important. In england, doctors recently did a study with young children, which showed that taking omega 3 and 6 fatty acids actually helped to keep kids focused on tasks and that means...calming down. These kids eventually had improvements in reading and other subjects!!! ADD, ADHD, were often caused by a lack of these nutrients in breastmilk and formula, which resulted in HYPER children. Fish is really brain food. The only problem, is that you may have trouble feeding highly supplemented fish to your kids regularely. And taking fish oil pills can be just as difficult! There is a gummie on the marked that is THE ONLY out there. My friends 3 kids are using this and she is very pleased. The doctors asked that their oldest son be put on medication because he had trouble focusing in school, but now he is doing great! Let me know if you'd like a link.
