Hopi Ear Candles, can anyone advise on their use for children?!
Question:
Hopi Ear Candles, can anyone advise on their use for children?
My son is 4, has problems with excessive ear wax. He already has gromits fitted in his ears. I'm trying to find something that might help without him needing to have his ears syringed. If this could help than advice on how to find a local practitioner would also be appreciated.
Thanks

Syringing is uncomfortable and distressing to him, and not always effective. He's already once had to be admitted to hospital and given a general anaesthetic to allow them to get the wax out.
Local to me is Tyneside.
Answers:
I don't know a lot about ear candles, but I worked with a GP who thought they were very good ( that's why i looked up some information on them but it was awhile ago)
If your son has grommets presumably he is under the care of a ENT consultant. It might be best to check what they think.
I do ear syringing at work ( I'm a practice nurse) but I am always very cautious with people with previous eardrum perforations and grommets etc.
But don't assume because it's something a little unusual that your GP or ENT consultant will think it's ridiculous
DR Frank gives great advice.!!
