Answers:

If you want a quick-fix, mad-made prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs work best. This is because the chemicals that are used in making prescriptions cause your body to react in the way that the drug-makers want it to.

On the flip side, herbs act in a totally different way. First of all, eating a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs on a daily basis will maintain your good health. Then, if you do get ill, therapeutic doses of herbs stimulate your body to HEAL ITSELF. This is the BEST way to fix a problem. Once you are ill, it takes longer reach the desired effect with herbs because they are intended to be used on a regular basis as a supplement to your diet. You can add herbs daily to foods and teas. Most medical conditions can be narrowed down to one culprit-a bad diet.

People used to be a lot healthier and had less disease. That was when they ate fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meat that was baked or boiled or grilled, and added herbs and spices to their foods for added benefit. When they got sick, they took herbs to help their bodies function the way were supposed to in order to correct the problem.

When people started frying meat and vegetables in animal fat and eating processed foods with man-made additives and preservatives, health started going south. Now everything is processed and filled with chemicals. That is not the natural state of the foods that we should be eating. When you get back to the basics of nutrition and stop ingesting man-made items that have no nutritional value, you will see a change in energy levels, hormone balance, and even disease states will change. There are herbs that affects different functions of the body. We know that diseases can be reversed if we will only do what it takes naturally. Instead, we go to the doctor and take prescriptions that are (like the foods we eat) man-made with chemicals. This is introducing more foreign chemicals into the body that was made to be treated naturally. (I used to be in Pharmacy, so I have been on both sides of this issue.)

I am convinced that it is our eating/ingesting habits that have brought us to this place and that the only way to reverse these disease conditions without worsening them (or having to take other drugs to counter the side affects from the first drug, etc.) is to start using natural products that cause the body to start healing itself.

Some herbs that are helpful for ulcers are:
Goldenseal, Capsicum (Cayenne Pepper), Myrrh
Dosing is different with herbs because every BODY is different. One person may need more or less of one herb than another person needs. It is not as harmful to try different doses of herbs to find the right dose as it is to do the same with man-made drugs. Man-made drug use has to be supervised by a doctor, whereas with herbs, you are taking responsibility for healing your own body. This really is the better way-once you educate yourself and get comfortable with natural healing.

Here is a book that I use almost on a daily basis to learn about herbs for health and illness.
