Does heat/cooking affect the effects of ground flax seeds?!

Question:

Does heat/cooking affect the effects of ground flax seeds?

Answers:

A bit. One of the main healthful components of flax seeds is the Omega 3 Fatty Acid content. This fatty acid is very fragile and is oxidized by heat. A bit of toasting may still leave you with some nutritional content, lots of fiber and a nice taste. It's not likely to hurt you, and it's fun to do for variety. Just understand that it might be "less good for you" than the same amount uncooked.
