Herb combo- Would companies be interested in paying me for my product idea? Or - would they just steal it?
I have an herbal remedy that I have not seen on the market.Would the companies whose products I use to make my combination be interested in paying me for my product idea? Or - would they just steal it?
Answers:
It's very difficult, and often impossible to patent herbal remedies for the simple reason that they are made of natural substances, and you are not likely the first person to come up with the combination idea. You can't patent plants, as they are freely available, the best you can do is patent the name of your combination so no one else could use the same name for their product.
If you made your own herbal remedies (it's not really that difficult), instead of using other companies products to make the combination, you would be able to sell your own product....but if you marketed your product using someone else's products and just mixing them, then they could sue you for selling their product under your name.
Your best bet, if you are SURE there isn't a product like what you have in mind on the market already, is to talk to one of the herbal manufacturers and get a guarantee in writing that should they use your idea, you would get certain profits from it's sale.
