Does Thyroid Hormone replacement include Tyrosine in it?!

Question:

Does Thyroid Hormone replacement include Tyrosine in it?

I suspect I have Hypothyroidism, because when I take any supplements with Tyrosine in it, my fatigue is gone and I feel better . Does anyone know if they use Tyrosine to make Thyroid Hormone replacement drugs?

Answers:

L-tyrosine is not in thyroid medications L-tyrosine is a supplement that many who are hypothyroid take to help in the conversion of T4 into T3. If you are being tested for hypothyroidism, you may want to stop the supplement so that you can get a true reading. When testing for thyroid, always do so in the morning and find out what the TSH was. A morning TSH over 2.0 shows that the gland is slowing down. Over a 3.0, you should be treated with thyroid meds.

If you are hypothyroid, you need thyroid meds. Another person mentioned wild yam, this is for menopause symtoms, not for hypothyroidism. Plus, even wild yam is not to be used, USP progesterone cream is the correct cream and is supposed to be used for PCOS, menopause and PMS....not thyroid problems.

Supplements used for thyroid are L-tryosine, zinc, and selenium. Some people use iodine, but yu really need to know if you are iodine deficient first or you can set yourelf up for bigger problems withthe thyroid.

Below is a good thyroid site
