Thyroid nodule..... don't want surgery?!

Question:

Thyroid nodule..... don't want surgery?

I have an average size thyroid nodule in the left half of my thyroid. They are recommending I have half of my thyroid removed. They don't believe that it's cancerous and my levels are all normal except I am producing a little excess thyroid hormone. I would prefer to not have surgery and am worried that I will end up having to take medication afterwards. Does anyone know of any alternatives that may help to shrink my nodule (other than radioactive iodine)?

Answers:

my family has a huge history of thyroid problems. I am currently treating myself for Graves. My aunt took the radioactive iodine and regrets it every day.
The quick easy way is a simple herbal fomentation. 3 parts mullein and 1 part lobelia (measured by weight). Make a tea from this mixture and soak a cotton or other 100% natural fiber rag in it. Wrap the rag around your neck and fasten it there. Keep it on as much as you possibly can and especially at night. You can cover it with plastic to keep from getting anyting wet. You can wear a turtle neck over it to cover it if you need to go out. It is also very good to drink the tea...at least 3 cups per day. This will work very fast.
