Its the system that carries O2 on hemoglobin from the lungs to the entire body. It also carries CO2 and wastes back to the liver, kidneys, and lungs. It also carries nutrients, hormones, minerals, etc to and from the digestive system and the various organs. The heart pumps the blood through the lungs and then out to the body thru arteries and the blood is brought back thru the veins. The arteries are what also clogs up and is then the cause of death in 50% of Americans. The clogging is from cholesterol. One doctor estimated that these causes of death would cease to be if we all took the two recent drugs that block the production of cholesterol(statin) by the liver and the reuptake(zetia) of cholesterol from the intestinal tract. The other choice would be lose weight, exercise, don't smoke, etc.
