How effective is organic sun protection?!

Question:

How effective is organic sun protection?

Hi,
I'm looking to buy organic sunscreen, at least SPF 20. I am very pale and burn easily. There is one by Greenpeople (waterproof) and also a Hemp one by Yoah (doesn't state if waterproof). I am worried that they might be very thick or very white in appearance and also that they might not work.

I am going to Morocco and burn very easily so don't want to take any chances.

Would be great to hear from people who have used these or other Organic sun protection products.

Thanks

From a scientific perspective, I can't say anything about how effective organic sun protection is - I'm not a professional in that area. If you're going to Morocco, I would suggest that you up it to an SPF of 30, which is the highest SPF that actually works (I believe that means that your natural skin protection is boosted to filter out 99% of the suns rays, or something to that effect). A lot of organic sun protection may not be regulated as well because it is organic and not using the same types of chemicals, so it may not be the best choice if you're looking for total sun protection. Almay uses a lot of natural ingredients, doesn't test on animals, and is non-comodogenic; I don't know if that's close enough to what you're looking for. Blue Lizard is a very popular Australian brand recommended by dermatologists - I've heard it's the best out there, and Australian testing standards are more stringent than US ones. Perhaps if you looked into organic brands popular in Australia, you'd have more luck. Definitely check out the Blue Lizard website - they have some good suncare information. I also listed a few other websites I thought might be useful. I hope that helps!
