I have had many EEG tests done. The tests are done to check for seizure activity. A couple dozen electrodes are strategically placed all over your head - to test the electrical waves in your brain. The worst part of the test is when the strobe light is placed in front of your eyes - I hate strobe lights because they provoke seizures for me, but that is the point of including them in the test, I guess. All in all, an EEG is a very easy test to go through.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)
An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that measures and records the electrical activity of your brain. Special sensors
are attached to your head and hooked by wires to a computer. The computer records your brain's electrical activity on the screen or on paper as wavy lines. Certain conditions, such as seizures, can be seen by the changes in the normal pattern of the brain's electrical activity. Doesn't hurt.

Hope this helps you...

HI I am a nursing student and I found that it stands for echoencephalography. I have never had one but I know that it uses ultrasound to examine internal brain structures. Not sure if this helps.
