Do depressed people whistle? Not can they whistle, Do depressed people whistle? !
Question: I don't know about everyone else, but I know that when I feel depressed, I don't whistle or hum or do any kind of tune-carrying. I have to think that some very musically inclined people, however, might whistle to comfort themselves when they are depressed. Musical expression means different things to different people. For me, I forgo music when I'm depressed. But others might embrace music as a "feel better" tool! I don't think whistling is a reliable depression barometer!

Who knows why don't you ask them?
Yea I think so.It gives them something to hear.
only as they whistle down the cliff face after it becomes harder to look than to leap
I'm depressed and I whistle sometimes, when I feel like it.
Thats like asking if dumb people ask questions...
yes, but only songs like TAPS and the M.A.S.H song (suicide is painless)
Only when i am trying to annoy my husband ;-) btw works great... & I am severely depressed ;-)
I caught you the first time,Dave. I suppose not, since being "down" doesn't make you feel happy. They probably don't sing, either.
It probably depends on the person. I suffer from depression and am depressed a fare amount of the time, but I whistle a fare amount. Usually it's when I'm in a manic phase.
Salaam.
Sometimes, when they feel like it. I personally don't whistle, but I actally do sing to myself very often. It's a comforting thing, and I've had depression for years.
I assume your depressed and you whistle. If this is the case you maybe whistling as a distraction from something your doing more so than whistling out of hapiness. Depression is a state that affects your day to day but does not mean that your a miserable person 24hrs. a day, perhaps just 23!
no. They should try it though, because the act of whistling ususally puts people in a more upbeat frame of mind.
I heard an interesting statement the other day that if you approach life with a song in your heart...you CAN'T be depressed. Think about it. People who walk around whistling tunes sure bug the crap out of other people, but they don't care...they are happy :)
