Whats the best medication for anxiety and depression??!

Question: its definitely not whiskey and weed as they are both depressants and will make you feel like ****. Im currently taking fluoxetine hcl (prozac) which helps alot with the depression and a bit with the anxiety- sometimes i wont be anxious at all and completely forget about it but then i kinda think myself anxious- you prob no what i mean, but i have severe anxiety and find it helps so if yours is only mild then it will probably make you feel alot better. I feel alot better in myself and dont feel as weighed down with everything anymore. Before you try medication i would advise you try other methods such as hypnotherapy and relaxation techniques and talk your problems over with those close to you also and dont isolate yourself even though you probably just want to be alone all the time. My friend is on citolpram and it seems to have a bit of a strage effect on her and i think she gonna change, but there are side effects with a antidepressants the main one being- sexual disfunction- which sucks! But the others such as nausea and a feeling of tiredness are usually just at the beginning of starting the medication- your doc will tell you much more about this when you see him/her. I hope this helps you and if you have any more questions about antidepressants or if you just want some one in the same situation to talk to dont hesitate to email me! hope you feel better soon hun x x x

The 2 w's Whiskey and Weed

Laughter, people, enjoying yourself.

see a doctor to make sure. but here is one some people have success with: http://www.effexor.com

U will need to talk to a Pharmacist about that, I dont know right off the bat

Medication isn't the answer. Talk to a counsellor.

SSRI's are the pupular treatment for depression now. For anxiety I take lorazipam, but not too often becuase it is addictive. Everybody's different so you and your doctor will have to find the right one and what dose to take. Be patient as this will take two or three months.

Exercise.

Hi Senorita

Here are some ideas to heal the issue.

Cause
Anxiety disorders occur in people of all ages, but appear to be more common among women. The occurrence of an anxiety or panic attack is often unpredictable, but it may be associated with certain situations such as driving a car. The exact cause is complex, involving constitutional factors, emotional stress, biochemical imbalances, and environmental triggers. In women, hormone imbalances can cause anxiety. Therefore, hormone assessment is essential. Amino and fatty acid imbalances can also play an important role in triggering anxiety attacks.

Natural Cures

Diet: Assess your diet to reduce excessive consumption of stressor foods such as refined sugars, honey, maple syrup, or cow`s milk products. Consume vegetable soups, broths, and a wide variety of green and yellow vegetables. Add more complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, beans, seeds, and nuts. Also be sure to drink up to a gallon of filtered water a day.

Flower Essences: Flower essences can prove very helpful in managing and helping to eliminate anxiety. Use Aspen for apprehension, foreboding, and fear of unknown origin while Mimulus is for fear of known things, shyness, and timidity. Red chestnut is used for excessive anxiety and over caring for others. Rescue Remedy? (combination formula) is for general stress from anxiety, and Rock Rose is helpful for coping with terror and panic from known fear.

Herbs: Panax ginseng has a tonic effect on the adrenal glands, improving blood flow to the brain and reducing the stress associated with mental/emotional issues. Valerian root, an herbal tranquilizer and muscle relaxant, is another good agent for calming the nervous system. It helps balance mood swings and is not habit forming. Valerian-hops combination formulas are good daytime sedatives because they don`t interfere with reflex actions. Passionflower is another mild sedative that helps reduce anxiety, high blood pressure, nervous tension, and muscle tension, and encourages deep, restful sleep. St. John's wort, a highly popular remedy for depression, has proven effective for anxiety and mood swings as well.

Homeopathy: Aconite, Actaea rac., Drosera, Calc carb., and Sulfur are all useful homeopathic remedies for dealing with anxiety.

Hypnotherapy: Self-hypnosis helps to impart to the mind imagery designed to bring about deep levels of relaxation.

Meditation: Develops the mind`s ability to stop anxiety at its source.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following supplements have all been shown to help reduce feelings of anxiety by calming the nervous system: calcium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, 5-HTP, pantothenic acid, and adrenal and kidney glandulars. GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), an amino acid, can also affect mood by increasing levels of the brain neurotransmitter serotonin (a mood regulator).

Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating and relieving the symptoms of anxiety: Acupressure, Biofeedback Training, Bodywork (especially Massage Therapy), Environmental Medicine, Guided Imagery, Hypnotherapy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Orthomolecular Medicine (for a self-care approach, we recommend the book The Mood Cure by Julia Ross), Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Yoga.

Best of health to you

Start with Zoloft. It takes a good 2 weeks to start working.

excercise makes you feel happy. anti-depressants surpress/hide depression. councelling brings it out into the open & involves a lot of soul searching. visit your doctor and they will offer medication/councelling. talking to colse friends/trusted teachers can help. i wish you all the best :)

Booze and/or opium, preferably used together

zoloft

music you like, friends, movies. a spoon full of sugar and a little dance.

I did great on Lexapro, until I got pregnant and stopped taking it and started therapy instead...now I'm off both and handling it fine on my own. Good luck.

talk to your doctor, because medications for anxiety and depression can be different. Dont take anything ending in PAM, its addictive. Medications coupled with therapy, such as REBT or CBT therapy will help you a lot. Good Luck!

I assume you're talking about mixed anxiety depression (?) I can't tell you what the "best" medication is, because everyone reacts differently, even if their symptoms are the same. However, here are some medications that can be useful.

SSRI antidepressants.
Venlafaxine (SNRI antidepressant)
Mirtazapine (Novel antidepressant)
Olanzapine (Atypical antipsychotic, usually used to augment another medication)
Quetiapine (Atypical antipsychotic, usually used to augment another medication)

Other drugs would include the following.

Lofepramine (antidepressant)
Most tricyclic antidepressants

Most of the medication are given as a trial. Since what may work for one person, may not work for you.
The majority of anti-depressants in use these days are the SSRI type-- Paxil, Prozac, Cymbalta are just a few.
There are also some meds used with these that bring down the panic.
Many docs would prefer to treat the panic with medications other then benzodiazapines (Valium/Xanax). These have addictive properties and are very hard to cease taking.

Find a competent, easy to speak with Doctor who you can discuss medications with and find what will be the right mixture for you. As I said, it may be a trial. I had gone through at least 4 different meds before I finally found one that gave me the least side effects (Cymbalta)
Good Luck

Talking to a Counselor will help you through this as well.
