How much can I reasonably drink on Lexapro?!
Question: I've been taking Lexapro for depression for just over a month, and haven't had any alcohol since I started, for fear of interactions with the medication. However, New Year's Eve is coming up, and one of my good friends has plans to steal me away and take me out for a wild night on the town.
Is anyone on here currently taking Lexapro? Can you drink while taking it at all, and if so, what's your max? I'm a very small, lightweight female, so I'm guessing one drink would probably be my max, if anything at all. I'd love some feedback from others who have consumed alcohol on this drug, though.

I checked out forum on Lexapro and alcohol. It appears as if reactions are very personal. I take anti-epileptic medication and shouldn't drink alcohol in theory. I do drink though but I know my body I'm been this along time.
I feel hypocrytical saying this but...I wouldn't drink unless you can be sure that you have an anchor(someone to take you home and keep an eye on you if things go sideways), I'd hate to find out you drank too much and someone too advantage of the situation.

Yes, I have had aclohol while taking Lexapro, but not very much. Because everyone is different, I would ask the pharmacist before your night out to avoid a nice hospital stay afterwards.
I took lexapro 5 years ago and i drank at max 3 drinks.
lexapro killed any desire for sexual activity... so i hope that isn't important for you. good luck!
I drank while taking Lexapro, If your a lightweight you still will be. Drink your usual

because he's taking medication .so medication and alcohol don't mix you will have some bad consequences.
My husband is on Lexapro, and he has a couple of drinks once in a while. He takes it in the morning, and never drinks before dinner.However, I would suggest that you look it up on the web and get info on the drug interactions, or call your pharmacy. It is their job to answer any questions you have about your medications.
Hmmm. I drink as much as I want, and I have taken Lexapro for years. I'ver never had any bad effects or anything, and believe me, I have gotten pretty drunk. Never even thought about it.
i suggest you consider not taking the lexapro for one day and just get hammered.
I would definitely say "NO"! There are several side effects that can occur. I use to take Lexapro, was at a New Years Party and was drinking screwdrivers with Belvidere Vodka (heavy stuff). Next thing I know I laying on the side of the commode and can't remember a thing. I feel I was very lucky to come out of everything okay. Since then I stay away from any hard liquor. Even small amounts of beer can be a little too much. Be careful.
