Nothing is "wrong" with you. A lot of people suffer from depression, especially during your teen years--life is particularly rough then. Tell your parents, ask to see your doctor. Your regular family doctor can help you figure out a plan to get things on the right track. Do it now before it gets worse and you wind up trying to hurt yourself, there's no shame in admitting how you feel and asking for help. I was depressed when I was your age, too, but never bothered asking for help with it. My parents finally took me to see a doc when it got so bad that I was missing school because I simply would not get out of bed in the mornings. It's not just a matter of being "emo," it's an illness. So don't wait for things to get worse, get some help; it makes the struggle a lot easier.

And off-topic, but I have the same birthday as you--kinda sucks doesn't it?

Talk to someone...you need help...get it....good luck..

it's called your cycle if you're thinking suicide get some help

Well you seem to be suffering from depression, to get through it you should get laid, worked for me

Depression is real and I would suggest going and seeing someone quick......there are things they can do to make you feel better

See a psych As SOON AS POSSIBLE

u need to go see a phyciatrist asap, because there are probably some issues that u havent dealt with

wanting to commit suicide is never good, depression is serious, I suggest a councilor.

But I think your friends might be really helpful right now!!!!!!!!

Oh my god I'm so sorry. You are going through depression. I don't know exactly why but you probably do somewhere in your subconscious or that you're not telling us. You really need to tell your parents if you haven't already. You need to talk to someone, particularly a therapist who will be able to get you help. It seems serious if you're thinking of committing suicide so please get some help for your own good. Please tell someone if you already haven't. I hope it gets better.

I think there's probably something in your past or your current situation that makes you feel bad about yourself. Have you been abused, hurt, taken advantage of in a traumatic way? Either way, get some counseling. Obviously suicide is tragic and not the right choice, and you will be surprised at how much counseling can help, and it might not even be a long drawn out process. There's no shame in it at all, most people have some form at some point in their lives, and there are programs to help pay for it if that's an issue. Good luck!

Here is a suicide prevention hotline you can call
1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Call to speak with someone who cares
Call if you feel you might be in danger of hurting yourself
Call to find referrals to mental health services in your area

Reach out to somebody you trust for help. Find a friend at school you trust and see if he or she can make you more cheerful. Maybe you can go the library and rent a cd, listen to music. If being emo makes you down, seek other interests - fingerpainting for example.

good luck

You are young. You go through a lot at that age. Trust me, I was there. I know those ideas might creep through your head, but trust me, as you get older, it all gets better. Who cares what people at your school think. You know how many people upset me in school? And where are they now? some of them are just LOSERS, working odd end jobs when people like us MAKE something of our lives and are happy when it counts. Hang in there, and if you need to talk, email me at:
email me at mihalco889@yahoo.com

mental illness hurts inside and outside of the body. but you should probably see someone. emo or not I don't know really what that is for sure but having thoughts of suicide and cutting yourself is not good, and needs to have treatment. I used to cut and I have suicide thoughts now and then, well most the time... I see someone, if you don't see a doctor to get on meds at least try to find a trusted adult who will listen and talk about what is going on. I never cut at that age, but I had the thoughts... I am 33 by the way.... but I am someone who would listen if you want to email me or IM me I am brwneyes30_04@yahoo.com

Can you tell your Mom? And your Dad? What about a brother or sister? Guidance Counselor at school? School psychologist? Your favorite teacher? Maybe an Aunt perhaps? You gotta tell someone. I hope you want to live and please don't hurt yourself.

Nothing is "wrong" with you --- many people feel the way you do. Don't be ashamed. You have not failed. You deserve to feel better.

Call.

Alexandria, I really think you should talk with an adult you are comfortable with. Perhaps a teacher at school, some one at church, parents, or friends parents. Just someone. You need to tell them how you are feeling and they will be able to find help for you.

I had a really hard time when I was your age. I had a lot of trouble in school. Were it not for my guidance counselor I would have tried to commit suicide myself.

I hope you get help. You seem like a sweet girl. Best of luck to you!!

I'm pretty sure everyone around that age has a depression period.
I did, my sister did.

Mostly its hormones and chemicals in your brain, but I think its also because of the whole emo and scene thing going on.

Its like, its cool to be sad.

lol...

Sweetie, do this for one week and see if it helps.

Instead of listening to emo music, listen to something happy, like, indie.
Indie is like emo, but its more...melencholy opposed to depressed.
Most of its very happy tho.

Then, instead of THINKING about being sad, and being in a sad mindset, think about the good in your life.

If that doesn't help, then get some counseling.

But I'm pretty sure you'll be ok.

If you want you can email me (go to my profile) or my myspace (I'll send it to you if you want)
I'm 15 and have been there done that (most anyways, because..I'm...15, I have yet to experience much, but, yeah..)

See depression treatments, at ezy-build *(below) in section 2, and consult a doctor, to eliminate thyroid problems, etc. as possible contributing factors: also seek a referral to a therapist using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy. It is your decision, and yours alone, as to whether to take any antidepressants offered, but, before you do, read section 1, and check medications out at www.drugs.com so you will be on the lookout for side effects, like sexual dysfunction. My strong recommendation, however, is to follow the advice of my doctor, his associate, and also Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP, and Dr. Mercola, as well, at http://www.mercola.com and avoid antidepressants (pages 2V, and 2Z refer, & antidepressant websites: page 2). The reasons why we all share the same view on this are explained in full, as you will find, if you read the whole section. All of their advice, (except prayer, because many people are not religious) I have incorporated into the "core treatments", including others as options, such as herbal remedies, Inositol, or SAMe. If you are diagnosed with clinical (major) depression, antidepressants may be necessary for a while, which will give the treatments time to become effective. The antidepressants themselves need at least several days, or even many weeks to become effective. It's a good idea to taper off them slowly, with medical advice, after several months, say, to a couple of years, at most, because they are only effective in the long term for about 30% of people. Because of this, you would be well advised to begin the treatments immediately, and maintain them. I'd just thank your mental health care provider, and pocket the prescription, trying the treatments for a few months, to see if they are sufficient for you, before considering filling it (unless clinically depressed, and having great difficulty functioning, or suicidal, in which case I'd take them). If the amount of daylight you have been exposed to recently has reduced, perhaps due to the change of seasons, see Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) in section 2, at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and, instead of taking 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily; replace 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements (or a teaspoonful of cod liver oil), for the winter months only! Consider having your doctor test your vitamin D levels. Practise one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer. Suicidal thoughts, shyness, and self harm are addressed in sections 5, 9, and 16. Visit your school counselor.
