Am i depressed?!


Question: I have been feeling very depressed lately. It all started with a boy i liked. I saw him in a carnaval with a bunch of girls. Secondly, I have been getting bad grades lately b/c the exams are cramed in the same day. My teachers are cramming all of the exams in the same day. lately, i been feeling sad, hopeless,and stressed for the littlest reasons. am i getting depressed?

its ok though, once everything slows down you will be fine again, and eat happy foods like chocolate and stuff like that to be all happy for the holidays

It possible you are depressed but it could also just be stress. To be sure you should talk to a shrink.

It sounds like this is a really hard time in your life and you're really getting overwhelmed. What I think your question comes down to is whether its 1) poor coping because of excessive stress or 2) dysthimia- a low grade depression. Here is a list to distinguish the two.

1) stress- frequent mental and physical fatigue. you may have headaches or stomach problems. You may eat a lot or a little.
Depression- Difficulty concentrating, sleeping more than usual. You will have little to no appetite.

2) Stress- you feel sad and/or cry ONLY when you think about the horrible things going on in your life, but after that you feel better. You feel confused and your moods may go from happy to extremely stressed/sad.
Depression- You feel this dark sadness that stays with you every moment of every day. Even when something good happens, you feel numb and don't react much. You probably cry very little or may not be able to at all. Your mood ranges from sad and overwhelmed, to a numb hopelessness.

Techniques to help: Try to eat- your body needs nutrients to function mentally and physically. Take time out to relax, even if it seems impossible. IF you think you are depressed, try to get a good support system and see a doctor or therapist.

I'm sorry that it happened. You are probably not depressed but you are really sad. I got sad for two days because I just had really bad days.

Well, why do women always say they are depressed? Secondly, you are depressed because of a boy and grades on a test? Are you f ing kidding me? Life is a game and your letting the game make you depressed? Do you get sad when you are doing bad at the game monopoly. Well, life isn't any different.
