See depression treatments, at ezy-build *(below) in section 2, and consult a doctor, to eliminate thyroid problems, etc. as possible contributing factors: also seek a referral to a therapist using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy. It is your decision, and yours alone, as to whether to take any antidepressants offered, but, before you do, read section 1, and check medications out at www.drugs.com so you will be on the lookout for side effects, like sexual dysfunction. My strong recommendation, however, is to follow the advice of my doctor, his associate, and also Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP, and Dr. Mercola, as well, at http://www.mercola.com and avoid antidepressants (pages 2V, and 2Z refer, & antidepressant websites: page 2). The reasons why we all share the same view on this are explained in full, as you will find, if you read the whole section. All of their advice, (except prayer, because many people are not religious) I have incorporated into the "core treatments", including others as options, such as herbal remedies, Inositol, or SAMe. If you are diagnosed with clinical (major) depression, antidepressants may be necessary for a while, which will give the treatments time to become effective. The antidepressants themselves need at least several days, or even many weeks to become effective. It's a good idea to taper off them slowly, with medical advice, after several months, say, to a couple of years, at most, because they are only effective in the long term for about 30% of people. Because of this, you would be well advised to begin the treatments immediately, and maintain them. I'd just thank your mental health care provider, and pocket the prescription, trying the treatments for a few months, to see if they are sufficient for you, before considering filling it (unless clinically depressed, and having great difficulty functioning, or suicidal, in which case I'd take them). If the amount of daylight you have been exposed to recently has reduced, perhaps due to the change of seasons, see Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) in section 2, at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and, instead of taking 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily; replace 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements (or a teaspoonful of cod liver oil), for the winter months only! Consider having your doctor test your vitamin D levels. Suicidal thoughts are addressed in section 5. The combination of antipsychotic, antidepressant, and tranquilliser leads me to believe that you may be suffering from a schizotypal disorder, so see sections 40, 10, and also 1, as well. You severely limit the amount of help we can provide, here, when you don't give the full details of your medications, and how long you have been taking each. You may well do better, consulting a psychologist, (they don't prescribe, so are less likely to be influenced by the hype from the BIG PHARMA sales reps) who believes in minimal necessary medication. Examine the 1-800-therapist website, and use the locators in section 1, and phone book to find one. The antidepressants themselves can bring about suicidal intentions, so contact your current therapist, URGENTLY!!! (It will take time to find another: your current therapist will try to dissuade you from changing, if you state your intention to change, so I'd keep quiet about it). Feel free to contact me, through my profile, but supply full details of treatments, please.

Call the suicide hot line in the phone book whenever you feel sad and hopeless and need someone to talk to to get referrals to help...

Suicide is not the answer. Get in touch with your PCP right away. There are many groups out there willing and able to help you. Suicide hotline is one of them. CALL IT. All of us here will be rooting for you!! Don't do anything foolish.!! We all care!!

the drugs you are taking are from a doctor i hope.
the prescriptions you are receiving are not working.
you need to see a head doctor today. suicide is not the answer!!!!!!!!!

You need to ring an expert to get help right now since you are feeling suicidal..there must be an emergancy number where you live for this.
Also you need to keep in contact with you doctor since you are one the medications that you are on this needs to be monitored and assessed to make sur that the meds are working and not making things worse .
seek emergancy help now and see your doctor for futher advice

It will pass. Talk to a doctor and get some meds. They can work wonders for you. It's like having a cold, it WILL go away with proper treatement.

Sounds like you should change your doctor if you are not getting help.

Call the crisis hotline for your area...they will have an 800 number.

I suggest you contact your psychiatrist, GP or any mental healt professional for assessment. They can really help. Your medications may need to be altered or adjusted. It is important that you make your doctor aware of any changes in your condition. I would suggest you do this without delay. There is a way to overcome suiciadal thoughts, but you must seek professional help. I believe that everything will be ok. Don't give up hope.Best wishes.

I am an expert on this subject. Don't take this the wrong way, but suicide is a selfish way out. Your pain will be controlled if you look around at your enviroment. Think... Are you in a bad relationship? Are you where you want to be in your life? If not before you do anything stupid (and trust me when it doesn't work, your suicide attempt, you will be hating life even more), try as hard as you can to focus on starting new. What I have found is forgiveness is the key to our own happiness, trust me. You are not a victim, there are millions of people in the world that have it much worse! How do I know this... Here is one example... You have a computer! Small but significant. You could be starving, with no electricity! Just a thought. Also on the med side. Tranquiler's although they are awesome for the stress, due have significant side effects and mainly depression! Get a "pill book" at your pharmacy, and it will give you the basic info you need on that one. If you are bipolar, good doctors today say that they no longer prescribe antidepressants to bipolar patients because it can make your depression much, much worse, and your mania go wild! Bipolar's are now suppose to be only on mood stabilizer's and antiphyschotics. Trust me I have lived like this for 8 years! If you have a plan to end your life it is definetly time to step up to the plate, whether you have insurance or not, this is the USA, you will get treatment no matter what! Hang in there, and do some reading! Try to surround yourself with people that love you, and if you have no family or friends find some ASAP! It makes all the difference in the world! Hope this helps!

Some excellent advise has already been posted to your question. I would add this: Does anyone in your family know of these feelings? Is there someone among them you can trust to help you that you can talk with immediately?
