Hey honey, There is a big chance that he will tell. Unless ur ready to stop then say something if not don't and just tell ur friend u did.

baby, it's in your best interest that your mother know what's going on.
Yes, your doctor needs to talk about this with you. Yes, your doctor needs to talk about this with your mom.
In order for you to get better, you need treatment. And you can't do that without your mom.
Get help. It's worth it.
Good luck.

At this point, your smartest and most mature move is to be proactive. Take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and talk with your mother about it yourself (prior to your doctors' appointment). Let her know that you're worried about revealing this to her, but that you know you need to get help. Ask her to set you up with an appointment with a psychologist.

Kudos to your friend, by the way, sounds like she is a real keeper. Only a TRUE friend would be willing to risk the friendship b/c she cares so much about your welfare.

Hang in there,
~M~

p.s. In answer to your question, the confidentiality guidelines for older adolescents vary by state. It is possible that that your doctor will tell your mother, particularly if he or she is concerned that there may be significant risk to your health. Again, though, those guidelines (i.e., adolescent medical confidentiality) vary considerably by state.

I don't know if your doctor will tell her or not, but if you think about it she is trying to get you help by taking you so she must want you to be open with her. some parents would never even care to get their kids help. My parents helped me by knowing everything because the more they understand you, the more they can help you. good luck to you.

Michele has a great answer for you and I second that answer.

I do SI (Self Injury) and I'd be hesitant to go to your doctor unless you are looking for a referral to a psychiatrist. Go to the website http://www.palace.net/~llama/psych/injur...
This site is incredibly informative and has a section for friends and family to read that explains to them why you do it, how they can handle what they've just learned, how to react to you about it, and how to help you now and in the future.
Most people who self injure are diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). I suggest you see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
