she may have developed schitzophrenia or in the early stages of developing it. disorganized speech and thinking is a symptom. they have impaired perception or expression of reality, paranoid, delusion, ect.. look it up under dictionary.com or webmd.com

Schizophrenia. If she is schizophrenic, and depressed, she should see a psychiatrist. Fact: When someone is shizophrenic, they are paranoid. Afraid to go out of the house; they feel like people are always watching them.

ok my sista was depressed and i was (i think i still am!) the symptoms are usually fairly obvious ones. the person doesnt be very happy/excited/enthusiastic as they normally are. they become boring and dont want to do alot of things. they usually sit around listening to music and either stop eating or end up comfort eating. you could do something to help her, but first you need to know how she has become depresses. i was depressed because i felt isolated from the world and wanted to become more independent. i was also jealous of the opportuities many people aroud me had.

So why aren't you urging your GF to get professional help? Depression is a bio-chemical imbalance in the brain that often comes about all of its own, unrelated to outside events. Or enough stress has hit the affected person through time, that finally the brain reacts and begins malfunctioning in the form of a clinical depression, such as your GF. She's talking to herself because her depression is causing her to retreat so deeply within herself, that outside reality is fading into the background for her. This isn't funny! I speak from personal experience. All manner of other odd occurrences can begin to manifest if she doesn't get help soon! Get the poor girl to a doctor and fast!

Yes it could be schizophrenia, especially if accomponied with occasional paranoia,or hearing voices etc. I knew someone who was eventually diagnosed with it, and at first the signs were all very subtle. Or it could be just nothing, many people talk to themselves casually/unconsciously sometimes, and I dont' mean like walking through the mall having a shouting match with yourself kind of thing, cuz that of course isn't normal....but for her depression, I hope she has at least seen a family doctor who would be able to diagnose and help her.
