I need help for a friend who has had problems with meth and is being prescribed !

Question: How can I convince this person that it is not good for them to trade addictions like this especially with this drug which is so addictive that it can kill if you try to cold turkey it ! And what kind of doctor knowing his patients history would be prescribing a substance like this to her ? Is their anything I can do ?

I'm taking lexapro I mix it when I drink but few hours later not like the same time.I think you should get him to a different doctor to determind his condition of his addiction. Is easy to explain get him to a rehab center where he will be montor and you won't have to worry about a "Dead friend" in the core of all evil if the devil was the devil it would be with "meth" they call it when you are quiting "Chasing the dragon" I had a friend died of OD on meth and I never got a change to help her.I helped her when she was 6ft under. Please help your friend before you regret it for rest of your life.BC I know I'm and her birthday she would have been 23 on december 25th.

peace-

leave ur friend alone on this one. the doctors DO way the pros and negatives and your friend probably used meth because of depression. antidepressants arent habit forming.

You need to realize that this drug helps people come off their high. It doesn't feed their addiction. Meth is a very powerful drug and the first time you do it you crave more. People who have never been addicted to something don't understand the power of addiction. Literally there are times when you would do anything for what you crave. You can't just wake up one day and quit doing meth. Your friend might have gone a day or two without doing meth but this isn't quitting. Addictions take years to overcome. Lexapro just helps the urges and cravings that you can get months after your last high.

First of all, while I am sure you care about your friend's well being, it is not your business to advise him/her about prescription drugs unless you are a doctor. You may have strong opinions about not using prescription drugs, but this person's doctor probably had a good reason for prescribing.

Rest assured your friend's doctor will make sure that he/she is not abusing their meds. The best way for you to help is to informally monitor your friend's intake of meds. If you feel this person is overdosing or otherwise abusing the meds, contact their doctor.

Read the info at the link. I would leave your friend alone on the meds and just be supportive in what needs to be done to get healthy. Addiction is a savage monster and it's hard to beat. Dr's know the meds and wikipedia can educate you more on them too.

I hope it all works out for you both.
