What kind of mental disorder does my ex have?!

Question: She makes up elaborate stories like terrorists stealing her identity, running into Osama Bin Laden at work and him being just a misunderstood individual, gangs putting a hit out on her, governors passing laws just for her and so much more. Things that never happen. She also claims in every instance that she is privy to information that no one else knows. She starts these things with quotes like "and what nobody realizes" and "what no body understands". Her parents had her checked by a doctor when she was a child back in the 60's but they could not physically find any thing wrong. These lies and the stress she puts everyone under makes us physically ill. She also cant seem to do things normal, cant hold down a job and always causing conflict among coworkers. She doesnt pay bills very well and argues with companies saying she paid and in reality she did not. She talks about things going on behind the curtain so to speak that all revolves around her.

Could be a problem in the schizophrenic family of disorders. Without knowing more that's all i can say. These disorders include plain old schizophrenia, as well as Schizotypal Personality Disorder, Schizoid Personality Disorder, and Schizoaffective Disorder. Though if I had to hazard a guess I would say it would probably be one of the first two. To look at the criteria for all of the different illnesses look in the DSM-IV, which defines all nationally agreed upon psychiatric illnesses.

woah. uhm if she says all that and can function is has the personality disorder where u dont mind getting cought lying and lie allll the time,,, i forget wat its called

I am not a psychologist, but that sounds like delusions of grandeur and paranoia. I suggest you visit a mental health care professional.

sounds like schizophrenia...and some other things too probably manic depressive...im not sure although she was checked in the 60's....its 50 years later and she should be checked again..she has some issues and a little therapy wouldnt hurt anyone

I'm not an expert but I would inquire about schizophrenia.

delusions of grandeur

I agree with "br" it's something in that family of diseases. She needs to see a doctor ASAP, but she's adult & if she sees the doc alone she can deny it all.You need to get her seen in an ER or Emergency services clinic.
Does she have any minor children? If so they need to be gotten away from that. That is one way to get her a good evaluation
If she has ever threatened to hurt anyone or said she would kill herself, she can be detained for 24-72hrs ( in a hospital setting, not jail) But the person who heard her say it has to be willing to tell the judge or nothing happens. While she's detained she can be evaluated & observed.

schizophrenia or bipolar, but Id say the first. she needs to be evaluated by a psychiatrist. If she cant afford one, she can claim indigent and go to a local large hospital with a mental ward to be evaluated. Plus may find certain meds might help tremendously.
Unfortunately its talking her into going is the difficult part but she may end up arrested and then be evaluated.
Good luck.
