Why do people say bulimics do not lose weight?!

Question: Is it because they are "trying to put the fear" in them? I know personally that they DO lose weight. They just lose other things too like their hair, teeth, friends...and more.

They lose weight but not as much as an anorexic. This is because some food gets digested, even during a binging session.

Not all bulimics lose weight and get scary skinny... I know of a few who do it just to maintain their current weight. Sad but true.

The vast majority of bulimics are average to slightly over weight.

A lot of bulimics do not lose weight. And many can maintain normal weight or even be overweigth. I think it has to do with the binging aspect. Being a certain percentage underweight is not part of the diagnostic criteria for bulimia as it is for anorexia. That's not to say that people with bulimia are never underweight.

becaue alot of them eat more then they purge, there for they don't lose weight.
i personally do lose weight, just make sure you messure what you purge, and get everything out, and you'll lose.

what makes someone a bulimic isn't that they lose weight.. it's that they don't gain wait even though they tend to binge on fatty foods in large amounts..

this is one of the major things that separates them from anorexics..

yes some lose weight.. but most bulimics are often at a normal weight..

Who says that?

I just read a great E-book that can help you lose 10 pounds real quick! It's a free download from this site.

Of course they lose weight, but that doesn't mean they just lose fat. Bulimics and Anorexics tend to lose a lot of lean mass, i.e. muscle and bone weight. And do you know what happens when you lose lean mass? Your body fat percentages gets higher, so technically you end up 'fatter' aka skinny-fat even if you are underweight and wearing a size 0.
