Question: I know someone who games all the time. Sometimes he won't go outside for days on end. He doesn't think he has a problem but he does because he neglects his children and his personal hygiene.

It is a matter of obsession. "Obsessive compulsive disorder" just like excessive shopping. It drives the person to do things receptively until they loose control of the situation. Try helping out, if doesn't work, try getting him/her professional help.
