The term emo makes me wanna scream?!
Question: ok so i guess im emo cuse i have 3 diffrent mental disorders but i dont walk around with black hair and spikes and what not i dont stand in corners i live with deppresion i mean all emo is is a sterotype i jsut dont get it cuse mose emo people or people that try to be emo dont even have mental illness they just think there life is unfair..well most people are but thats no reason to dress in black and do the werid stuff they do...i mean onetime i told my friend i had deppression and ocd witch i have been dignosed with my a dr..and hes like you dont look emo...and im like wtf...does anyone else hate this term

I hate the term too. You're not emo, you have a mental illness. It's hard to say what emo really is though. People will say just about anything is emo, from certain clothing styles, to certain types of music, to the way someone will wear their hair, to the way someone will walk down the street, etc....Emo has come to mean just about anything, as long as its meant in a derogatory way. yeah I hate it because if someone writes a depressed poem or something, they're classified as emo. thats not what emo is. emo does not equal depressed. emo is supposed to be emotional rock music. and just because your emotional doesnt mean your depressed, just because your emotional doesnt mean you have black spikey hair with side bangs.
yup. i get called emo alot but i dont dress in black or anything quiet weird accually......hm....... but ye i hate it. its so unfair to call peple emo just because of how they may act or dress.

try not to worry so much about the label you're given, and focus more on how to handle the symptoms of your mental illness.
YES!! i HATE the term. my friends constantly call me emo cause i suffer from depression and borderline personality disorder...and i was a cutter. im not emo. sometimes people just hurt and dont feel like being uppity and happy. i think the term is highly overused. it's really annoying. ugh idk...i just know that i HATE the term too....idk i hope this helped you in some way.
