I think I need to have severe ocd to see a doctor?!

Question: Is that weird. I dont know maybe I'm just avoiding seeing a doctor, but I dont think I will ever see a doctor for it until my entire day is full of obsessions and compulsions. Right now I'm not sure how much ocd takes out of my life, I estimate about four hours of compulsions and I dont know much time is spent on obsessions. Do you think I'm just making excuses to not see the doctor? Thanks a lot for reading all that and hopefully answering.

It looks to me that you have several fixations if 4hrs are devoted in your everyday life. Without explanations of what they are it is hard to pinpoint if you are OCD. Definatlely see your doctor who will in turn fill out the paperwork for you to see a specialist. My case for instance is that I fixate on certain things such as timing my teeth brushing (4 mins), ironing my jeans, etc. I later found that I suffer from slight clinical anxiety (might be your case as well). OCD is patterns that you find necessary to accomplish certain tasks; for instance making sure that your tasks are accomplished in order or it will actually make you feel uncomfortable or ill. So see your doctor when you are ready. I hope that whatever is wrong at the time you can get over it. In my case I was given small doses of Xanex for a while (2 months) and I was in a way weened of some of my fixations in turn making me a more happy person.
I hope I helped,
Kevin
BTW: Before going to the doctor look on WebMD and research betwwen the two (OCD and anxiety disorders). I hope that all goes well.

4 hours is a lot of time when you add it all up day by day.. if a doctor can help you get those 4 hours back to do whatever you want ... I think thats worth it.. you probably are making excuses not to go see a doctor ...sometimes thats easier than admitting somethings wrong.. plus ocd is sort of like a comfort... you do the compulsive behaviors to keep yourself from getting anxious... go see the doctor ... or a therapist .. its not that bad.... good luck..plus at least youre acknowledging it..

If it doesn't bother you and you can function, don't bother with a doctor. Otherwise see a doctor for counseling. Use medication as a last resort.
