HELP! how do i focus!?!

Question: right now i'm using yahoo answers to procrastinate from studying for my final. i just can't face it. 12 am is creeping up on me and i just can't get to work. i'm so stressed that so much of my grade is decided on one stupid test that thinking about studying makes me sick. in HS i was ill for ever final, mid term, and SAT because my nerves and stress make me physically sick. i always attend the tests, but i often do poorly because i'm stressed, sick, i didn't study well, and i have trouble actually reading the questions because my brain is going crazy with thoughts of anxiety. HELP:( i'm not trying to make excuses for doing badly...i just need advice on how to snap out of it so ican prepair and do well.

im just like you.

just repeat "in the grand course of life, this exam will not even be ever remembered and really isnt even a big deal at all"

honestly its not a big deal when you think of everything that you will worry about in ur life. you wont rememebr this exam at all.

so even if u f**cked up huge, it wouldnt even be a big deal.

dont put so much pressure---remember its not a big deal when u think of everything u will do in ur life.

Goodluck anyways...:)

If you still have a lot of time - sleep. Find out how much sleep you need in order to concentrate. I'd say a minimum of at least 6-7 hours daily. Even if you are planning to study 2 hours for SAT everyday, and your schedule won't allow you to sleep 7 hours, try to get at LEAST 6 in. Sleeping really helps your mind focus.

Next would be to find what is stopping you and what is making you procrastinating. Is it facebook, or the internet? If it is, cut them. Don't work in front of your computer.

Anxiety just makes things worse. Plan out the course of your school week or month so you are less anxiec (is that even a word?) because you'll know where you'll be going if you follow that schedule. RIght now you are panicking becuase you have no idea where you'll end up. Plan your stuff and try to stick to it. Don't go too overboard and realize that you are NOT going to follow it completely so give yourself 5-10 minutes extra time for everything.

Another thing I've been doing lately is keeping track of what I am doing daily. It is surprising how many "lying around", "chat on MSN" "facebook" entries there are compared to work, and all this time, I thought I spent more time working than my peers.

Good luck.

Heres a way you can focus more easily. Sit, lie or stand somewhere so you are comfortable. Stare at a point thats above eye level, and stare at it. Put all your concentration into that spot, and give it all your attention. Hold this for maybe 30 seconds. Then while you continue to stare at that spot, and keep looking at it, notice how you can see things in your peripheral vision (the outer area of your vision), keep looking at that spot, but turn your attentention to what you can see in the outer area of your sight, and pay attention to different areas of your vision, and find how its easier to see things. Do this for maybe a couple of mins, and then find that you will be more alert, focused, and will be able to "think more clearly"
Let me know how you go with it.
