Ur body wants it and ur mind is saying u need this. U DON'T NEED IT. I know how hard it is. I cut myself but trying 2 stop. That is so good 2days wow! I'm so happy 4 u. Whenever I want to cut I say this 2 myself "Because they love me". What this means to me is my friends love me and hate what I'm doing. My family loves me and I don't need it. I hope I helped. Take a red pen and draw on ur skin.

wow it must be hard to stop.

Whatever the reason is that you BELIEVE you need that, you need NOT to do it, cause it's just CRAZY. There are 1000 more interesting and cool things to do in life than CUT oneself. Jeeeez!!!!

listen to your mind not your body
...
I went through the same...
Well I hope the best for you...

You're just used to cutting so you enjoy it now, so your body says you need to cut when you don't need to.

Don't cut, this is not a good thing for you. Think of somehting good or get something to eat (that takes my mind off stuff)

cutting is like an addiction!! your body starts to feel relief from this. sometimes its soo hard to stop that feeling.. thats why therapy helped me .. you cant fight an addiction alone

I used to cut myself a lot when I was younger. Alot of people would question me about it, and half the time I did it, I wasn't even depressed. I guess, for some reasons you do it and it realeses some crazy hormone in your body and makes you feel better.

I stopped cutting when I was sixteen.
I stopped the habit after I watched a friend put rubber bands on her arms and whenever she felt like cutting, she'd snap the band on her wrist. She did the same when she was sad or aggravated. It helped me out too.

I also suggest writing. Writing helped me TONS. Write a story, get your mind off things.

Because it feels so good. I used to cut all the time. I stopped because I cut myself so bad that it left a nasty scar on my chest and now I have to lie to my kids everytime they ask me about it. I do miss it though. It just feels so good.

Also, like some of the people above I had to go to a therapist to get help.

My theory is that certain habits can be hard to break because your muscle memory still remembers the act of doing it. If you're in a certain place or did a certain behavior that came before the time you wanted to do harm to yourself, then you might find that the thought of doing that act again will show up. Try changing your behavior and doing something else, and you may find the thought going away on its own.

Honestly I'm going through the same thing.

I think it's okay and I don't want to stop, but everyone else wants me to stop.

I think it isn't that bad, but I don't want anyone else to do it just because it is an addiction..

Usually the pain of something that has happened to you is great, and the pain of cutting erases that pain for a period of time. Tell someone about what is causing you mental pain and take your medication. You will be surprised to know that the Mental Health professional has heard the same pain from other people. You are not alone in experiencing something that is causing you mental pain!!! You're cut up and bleeding inside because of what happened to you. Get going and tell a professional person. You will never "catch up" and cut yourself as deep and as many times that will erase the memory of your inner pain.

Cutting is sometimes (but not always) associated with depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, obsessive thinking, or compulsive behaviors. It can also be a sign of mental health problems that cause people to have trouble controlling their impulses or to take unnecessary risks.

You can gain a better understanding by reading the article on the site below, but continue to talk to your counselor and try to resist your impulse.

wow babygirl i think you know that hurting YOURSELF on purpose is NOT good. not to say that there aren't things that happen in our lives that make us want to lose it...trust me i know this feeling...what i like to do in those times is think about some of the positive things that are going on. a loving family member may also be able to bring some sushine in your life...but i really think you should start trying to find out what is the trigger? if it is something you can remove from your life, well then please rid yourself of it...if it is something that needs to be dealt with...well i doubt you cutting yourself is going to bring you any closer to a solution. TALK IT OUT! express yourself in a way that is heard and understood. that way there is at least a CHANCE at reconciliation. if that doesn't work well sweetie, find someone who is in a position to help. but whatever you do...Stop trying to handle this by yourself, it is obvious you need some type of help and it is ok to ask. EVERYONE needs help at one time of another. it is nothing to be ashamed of at all!

When you do cut yourself your brain releases these endorphins, "chemical in your brain" and you get kinda like a high. So your having with-drawls, its like a drug. Your addicted. Hang in there, I knew someone who used to cut...i talked her into getting help and she did. She went through exactly what you did. Seriously listen to everyone and DONT CUT!! the longer you can go without doing it the stronger you will get. Then you wont have this feeling anymore. Continue therapy and just think about the people you really care about before doing anything. Good Luck. You can do it.
